Android 2.036 adds encrypted full till backups in Back Office, including stored sales, open bills, pending payment references, menus, settings and available error reports. Read the backup and recovery guide. Update over the existing app to keep its data; do not uninstall or clear storage first.

More of your daily work, built in

These additions are available in Android 2.024 and the current Back Office. Upgrade every sharing till to the same version. Windows 1.23 remains available with its existing features; Android additions are not a claim of Windows parity.

Bookings and preorders

Hosted table bookings and a till calendar; available days, cover limits and 15-minute arrival slots; date overrides; the end time is the last arrival, with the full booked duration still available; adult and child preorders, modifiers and allergy notes. Event menus replace the usual booking menu at specified dates and times. Assign or change a table for the booking date and print dated kitchen and front-of-house summaries.

Booking deposits

Set deposits per person, with selected menu-item deposits replacing the standard amount. Take PayPal deposits online or use the till’s Booking Deposit function. Required online deposits must be received before confirmation. Deposits follow the booking to its table, appear separately in Z and End of Day figures, and enter the receipt-day totals. Later redemption avoids counting the deposit twice.

Floorplans and takeaway checks

Edit up to 10 rooms with BMP, JPG or PNG backgrounds and positioned table shapes. Send plans from Back Office. Open stored bills from tables or numbered takeaway checks, see customer, fulfilment and payment details, add items and settle the outstanding balance.

Automatic till sharing

Set the business location and till group in Back Office. Android 2.024 completes initial setup automatically, saving a recovery backup before applying the established group's settings. No join prompt is required. Once verified, the till shares its signed approval over the LAN. Orders, bookings, deposits, floorplans, menus, staff, attendance and stock movements then sync locally between licensed tills at that location in the same group. There is no internet relay for group operations. Disconnected tills do not block ordinary trading; they catch up when reconnected. A stored order still needs confirmed handover from its original till before another till can edit or settle it. Back Office reporting, online orders and bookings retain their normal internet connection.

Vouchers and register controls

Create single-use numbered vouchers with a value, start and expiry dates and a Used flag. Enter or scan a voucher number; excess value is forfeited. A full reversal restores validity. Redemption requires an internet connection. Save custom percentage discounts and service-charge buttons, enter gratuities, record age checks and cancel partial tenders. The register shows the amount still to pay.

Online orders and payments

Collection and delivery, customer accounts and saved addresses, branded ordering colours and required privacy, refund and Terms and Conditions links. Desktop has categories beside the items; phones use category selection and Back to categories. Dojo and SumUp hosted card checkout, order emails, kitchen tickets and itemised receipts. Cancel orders from the till with customer notification and the configured provider’s refund workflow. Provider onboarding and supported payment routes apply.

Shared stock and attendance

PLUs, Addons and Option Items share stock changes after sales, returns, stock-in, waste and transfers. Opening balances are not added together. Android 2.016 shares newly created items’ opening stock over LAN and correctly reapplies repeated catalogue and floorplan edits. Staff and attendance changes also sync; a disconnected till catches up when reachable.

Dojo terminal controls

Select a terminal from the account’s available IDs and save a location note. Android supports gratuities, signature decisions, declined/cancelled/expired results and recovery of interrupted payments and terminal refunds. Manager recovery actions appear when Dojo is selected; SumUp remains separately configurable.

Ticks show available features within the stated platform and configuration. Payment services require the provider’s account approval. Licence and membership changes reach offline tills when their list refreshes; cached access expires with the saved licence allowance.

POSSAFE CV2 thermal printer

This is the printer we tested. It is no longer available on Amazon, so a printer price is not included in the totals. Choose a compatible ESC/POS network printer; Setup 2 also supports USB for the local receipt printer.

Printer-connected cash drawer

Connect the drawer to the receipt printer’s dedicated cash-drawer port using a compatible cable.

Supplier prices can change. Dojo totals use its £149 upfront offer plus 20% VAT (£178.80); provider terms apply. Delivery, the Megal EPOS subscription and card-payment service charges are separate. Payment provider accounts and approval are required.

Online Back Office

See every connected till from one account

Use the same billing email across your tills to see live sales, clerk names, online status and consolidated all-till attendance. Pull configuration from a till, edit it centrally and send compatible settings and layouts to chosen machines.

Connected operations Sales, tills and settings

Running tills normally check in about every 30 seconds. Back Office keeps its reporting copy separate from local till records, shows online or offline state and exports every report as an Excel-compatible CSV file.

Add an Order Online link to any website

Back Office creates a Megal-hosted menu and checkout page. Choose collection, delivery or both; set the weekly hours, delivery fee and VAT; mark the PLUs that may appear online; and select the till or tills that may receive each order.

Checkout follows the saved opening hours and the receiving till’s Online Orders switch, connection and printer readiness. Auto Online Orders follows till opening and closing, with manual override. Tills not using cash reconciliation can switch online orders on manually. Older tills keep their existing Back Office access.

Menu, checkout and handoff Collection, delivery and one assigned till

Customers sign in with email and password, build a basket and choose collection or delivery. Collection uses their primary address; delivery can use any saved delivery address. Choose cash or enabled Dojo or SumUp hosted checkout. Orders carry customer details and payment status to the receiving till for kitchen and receipt printing.

Set ordering colours, delivery charges and required privacy, refund and terms links in Back Office. Customers receive order and cancellation emails. Business owners can view a combined customer list across their own locations; separate owners’ lists remain separate.
